Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers to common questions seniors may have about our programs, activities, and support services.

What can I expect once I become a member?

Members can expect to be part of a welcoming community where participation is flexible—you join the activities you enjoy, at your own pace. Many seniors find not only fitness and wellness opportunities but also new friendships and a sense of purpose.

Is there a minimum level of commitment required?

No. You are not required to attend every class or event. Members are encouraged to take part in what fits their lifestyle, whether that’s joining a weekly Zumba session, occasional bus trips, or simply attending special events.

Do I need to be physically active to participate?

Not at all. While many activities focus on movement and wellness, there are also social and cultural options like book clubs, seminars, and social dances. The community is inclusive of all mobility levels and interests.

Can family members or caregivers join in activities?

Yes. Certain events welcome companions, friends, or caregivers. This creates a supportive environment where seniors can enjoy experiences together with loved ones.

What if I’m new and don’t know anyone?

Many members join without knowing anyone beforehand. Programs are designed to encourage interaction, and volunteers ensure newcomers feel comfortable and included. Many friendships naturally form through regular participation.

What if I have accessibility needs?

Events and programs strive to be as accessible as possible. Walking groups and dance classes are adjusted for comfort levels, and accommodations are made to ensure no one feels left out.

What makes Seniors in Action different from other senior groups?

As a self-funded organization, much of our ongoing support also comes from our popular monthly Casino Bus trip to Niagara Fallsview Hotel and Casino Resort.
